Information You Submit
Terms Entered in Search
A name, place, or other term entered into a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates the search. That provider processes the query under its own privacy rules. Copiah County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. Visitors should avoid entering private details that are not needed to run the requested lookup.
Messages Sent to Us
If you send an email or use a contact form, we retain the message and the contact details supplied with it so we can read and answer the request. Those messages are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law. A contact message should not include Social Security numbers, full birth dates, medical information, account passwords, or other sensitive material.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
Normal web systems create limited technical records when a page loads. The data help deliver the site, measure traffic, diagnose faults, and protect the service. Depending on the visitor's device and network, those records may include:
- The internet protocol address used for the request
- The browser name and browser version
- The device category and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on those pages
- The referring website, when a referral is available
- Date and time stamps tied to site activity
Cookies and Similar Storage
Cookies may be used to understand how visitors move through the site and to support site, analytics, or advertising functions. Most browsers let users delete or reject cookies through their settings. Blocking them may change how some tools, preferences, or advertising features behave, though ordinary page content may remain available.
Reasons We Use Data
The information described above is used only for routine site operations and related services. In practical terms, those uses include:
- Keeping pages available, responsive, and stable
- Sending a search request to the selected partner service
- Learning which Copiah County record pages visitors find useful
- Finding broken links, failed requests, and other technical defects
- Displaying advertising that may reflect a visitor's interests
Privacy on Linked Websites
Copiah County Released Inmates links to the Copiah County Sheriff's Office, Mississippi Department of Corrections, parole and probation resources, federal and immigration custody systems, court portals, and outside search tools. Access to Mississippi government records may also be governed by the Mississippi Public Records Act and the rules of the agency holding the record. Once a visitor follows an outside link, that destination's privacy notice and terms control its collection and use of data.
Advertising partners may use technology on their own systems to recognize activity across more than one website and select interest-based ads. Copiah County Released Inmates does not control those external tracking practices. Visitors can review the ad provider's privacy choices and browser controls for available limits.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may still be transmitted or disclosed when needed to operate the site, provide a requested feature, or comply with a binding legal obligation. Potential recipients are:
- Search partners that process a query submitted to their tool
- Analytics providers that measure site use and performance
- Advertising networks that deliver or measure advertisements
- Law enforcement or another government body acting under a valid legal order
Each outside recipient handles information within its own service and legal duties. A link to an official release record or custody portal does not transfer control of that agency's record to us.
Safeguards and Their Limits
Reasonable technical and administrative practices are used to reduce the risk of unauthorized access, alteration, or loss. No internet-connected service, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. We therefore cannot promise that a breach, interception, software defect, or other security event will never occur. Visitors should use care when deciding what to send through a contact channel.
Visitors Younger Than Eighteen
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly request or collect personal information from anyone under eighteen. If a parent, guardian, or young person believes that a minor submitted personal data, contact us with enough detail to locate the submission and request its deletion.
Choices About Personal Data
Subject to applicable law and the practical ability to identify a record, a person may make the following requests about personal information held directly by Copiah County Released Inmates:
- Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold
- Request correction of information that is inaccurate
- Ask that eligible personal data be erased
- Opt out of certain processing when that option applies
These choices apply to data under our control. Requests about a sheriff record, MDOC entry, court file, VINE registration, federal locator, or partner search must go to the organization that keeps that data.
Changes to This Notice
We may revise this Privacy Notice as site practices, service providers, or legal requirements change. A revised version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use after an update means the visitor accepts the revised practices.
